On Friday 1-3 pm the West Kelowna Library will present the following artists: painters Ralph Carlson and Bob Harrold, drawing from Pip Dryden, photographers Neil & Mary AnthesThe Music Room teacher and musician Dan Summerspotter Elaine Hughes-Games carvers from the Kelowna Carving Club, Westbank Library’s Stitching group The Granny Squares: Joyce Emmons, Betsy Cooke, Wendy Cormier, Hélène Garrett, Junette & Stu Taylor, Diana Hudson, and Nicola Newington.
“Come and enjoy refreshments while you observe local artists in action! The artists will be set up around the Library there to answer your questions, talk to you about their techniques and, in some cases, sell their work.” said Elena Doebele the West Kelowna Head Librarian.
Also on Friday 11 – noon, magician Leif David will perform Close Up Magic at Curves. Curves will be also be presenting the work of painters Janet Drinnan, Shirley Hall and Fatima Turner.
Across the street at Mad Hatter Books, Ralph Carlson and Paulette Breault Photography will be at the store all day Friday and Saturday. Paulette will be providing music and will be available to talk about the innovative beginner piano program called EZ Piano Systems that she created for adults and seniors.
Not far away, an excited JK Schmidt Jewelers will be presenting the work of Okanagan painter Evelyne MacMillan. Evelyne will be in attendance Fri from 4- 7:30 pm and present an artist talk at 5 pm following which there will be a talk about gemstones. On Sat Evelyne will be at JK Schmidt from 10- 4 pm. Throughout the event attendees can enter a ballot for a prize draw at the store.
On Friday evening Sep 26 from 630 – 8 pm New Moon Art Gallery will present The Art of Classical Harmonica Playing Workshop by Anthony Lau. Anthony will be accompanied by Melodie Belke from the West Kelowna Music Studio. The workshop is free to the public and seats are starting to fill up already, so phone in for your reservation.
Also at New Moon, along with works by the gallery artists, watercolourist Heather Ferguson will be in the gallery on Saturday 10-5pm and painter and gallery owner Linda Lovisa will be in the gallery on Sunday 11-3 pm. Both artists will be most happy to show you what she is working on and answer any questions.
